For Last Mile Cafe, coffee has always been about more than what's in the cup.
Founded by Arick Davis and Sarah Laman-Davis, Last Mile Cafe is a Black-owned and woman-owned Grand Rapids coffee company built around a commitment to people, community and the planet.
The company launched in 2021 before opening its first brick-and-mortar café in 2022. From ethically sourced coffee to sustainable business practices and community giving, Arick and Sarah wanted to prove that a successful business could also reflect the values they cared about.
And for Arick, those values have a personal connection to Boston Square.
A Grand Rapids native, Arick grew up in the Boston Square neighborhood before studying electrical engineering and eventually taking the leap into entrepreneurship. Today, Last Mile's presence inside HUB 07 brings part of that journey home.
Last Mile Cafe at HUB 07 gives Boston Square neighbors a place to grab a coffee or latte, meet with a friend, get some work done or simply spend a little time together.
It's exactly the kind of everyday space that helps make a neighborhood feel like home.
